PATIENT SUPPORT PROGRAM.

At Project Flamingo, we believe in providing comprehensive care that goes beyond medical treatment. Our mission is to uplift and empower patients facing the challenges of a breast cancer journey, ensuring they receive the support they need at every step of their journey.

HOW DOES THE PATIENT SUPPORT PROGRAM WORK?

Holistic care goes beyond surgery, and our dedicated patient support teams understand the power of compassionate listening and

  1. Pamper Packs for newly diagnosed patients
In the midst of medical treatments, we understand the importance of moments of self-care. Our Pamper Packs are specially curated to bring comfort to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. Each pack is filled with thoughtfully selected
self-care items designed to pamper and uplift feminine spirits, creating a compassionate experience during a challenging time. Because every patient deserves a moment of self-love.

  2. Food Parcels for Chemotherapy Patients in Need
Many chemotherapy patients may face challenges accessing nutritious meals. Our Food Parcels initiative strives to bridge this gap by delivering essential food supplies to those in need. We want to ensure that no patient goes without the nourishment they need during their healing journey.

  3. Empowering Through Connection: Patient Visits for Surgery Preparation
Facing surgery can be a daunting experience, and emotional support plays a crucial role in the preparation process. Our dedicated team conducts patient visits the day before surgery, providing a compassionate presence and valuable information to empower individuals for the road ahead. These visits are not just about medical readiness but also about instilling confidence and a sense of control, ensuring that each patient steps into surgery with strength and knowledge. Because empowerment starts with understanding.

"A breast cancer diagnosis brings a whirlwind of emotions, which can feel overwhelming and messy at times. It's crucial to recognize that these feelings are entirely valid and normal.

"I tell patients to allow themselves to experience and express themselves without judgment. And
seeking emotional support and leaning on loved ones can make a significant difference during this challenging time.”

- Kayla Bull, Project Flamingo Patient Support Team & Registered Counsellor

WHAT OUR SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS SAY

Liesl Cronjé, Female Identity Coach

It touches my heart deeply to hear about each women’s fear, joy and courage, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I have to talk to them and to be part of this project.

Nicole Tessendorf, Patient Support

I am very passionate about project flamingo and supporting the woman that go through this. If I can make just one woman’s journey easier, then it makes my journey worth it.

Sam Ramsay, Patient Support

Our role is to encourage everyone, whatever stage they are at, to be open to learning how they can improve their health, and how they can act preventatively. We encourage the asking of questions, which is rather unconventional.
